Long Farmer walks

I've taken to doing farmer walks at the gym on the tredmill. Do the arms as well as the legs and break up the jogging..

I aim for one mile at a brisk walk (5.5KPH) on a 8% slope (you can feel it in the backs of your legs) with about 8 or 9 K in each hand... probably will be ten next time as I'm still experimenting...

Does anyone have any advice for me on this?
