Knuckles or open hand?

Post  Ade on Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:36 am

We lost this interesting poll in the "switch-over" so i thought it would be good to re-visit the subject.

My vote goes to knuckles,if i'm really honest then when shit hits fan i will make a fist...much as i'd like to be able to say i use both Rolling Eyes

EDIT:Although if i'm really, really, honest i think i will most probably default to grappling and banging opponent against convenient parts of the local enviroment. My hands aren't really much use for striking these days.

I voted knuckles as while we all (most?) train open hand, when it comes down to it the knuckles are what I default to

I'm definitely both but primarily open hand if I'm at 'work' and it's a pre-emptive slap. If I'm in the middle of things then it's almost always fists.

Both for me, when teaching and in less pressure environments its open hand, but when the sh1t hits the fan its knuckles every time, but i have to say, my thought is as i have an early background in closed fist arts its a fall back to what happens naturally

Open hand for me every time chaps, too easy to break your knuckles or have your wrist in the wrong position if closed in a fist, and almost impossible to do with a palm based strike, (heel palm)

As a Kempo fella I'm more into open handed strikes, guess my thing would be palm heel strikes. Almost foolproof to use when applied to the correct target, i.e, bridge of nose. At the same time closed fist techniques should never be neglected either. Smile

Both. Better to be versatile and have a full range of method than to be limited.
