Seriously have you ever had to take care of two-year-old girls? I think it was Mark Twain who said, "Give me an army of two-year-olds and I will conquer the world."

Makes me wonder what Sun Tzu could have done with 2yo kids instead of concubines.

Nige here, have posted a few times over the last couple years

Started off in judo as a kid, then 15 odd years of shotokan before a long break and coming to my senses doing self defence based on Bill underwoods teachings, and jkd and kali in the mix just for good measure.

Oh and I get battered by Dave Turton a couple of times a year just for good measure.

Post  PeterR on Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:25 pm

Hi All,
Started training in Zen Do Kai June 1972 when the first Frankston Club started (then called Bob Jones Karate followed by Australian Goju) under Dave Berry & Billy Manne. Mainly came under Bob Jones from 1978 onwards with many dojos under me throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Canberra, Brisbane, Darwin and Townsville then maintained training whilst doing government work before General Duties policing then (now) Army. Developed a connection with Des Morrison, Bruce Siddle, Tom Jost and Jack Leonard after specialising in pressure points from about 1980 in ZDK, Spontaneous Knife with PPCT and helped develop extensive Violent Patient Management course with large Health Dept (55,000 employees training in that program). Still maintain friendships with all these guys and primary mentor is Bob Jones. Remember Nick Hughes well as the Honbu Instructor. Still training in ZDK and PPCT and conducting courses primarily for law enforcement, security and Health Depts. Peter Rowe

Introductions

Post  techman on Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:49 am

Hello forum users, may I take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I started training in judo near Glasgow in 1967 my Sensei was the late James(Jimmy) Dickie. He went on to become the Chairman of the AJA.
I recall meeting Norman Grundy at the AGM of the AJA and also knew Sensei Kevin Murphy. I attended numerous AJA National Championships in the 60/70's.
I lost touch with the Aja in the mid 70's when my job took me to Cumbria. I have been an active judoka for over 40 years, establishing 3 judo clubs in Cumbria. All of which continue to thrive.
In the late 90's I moved from the BJA to the BJC who's president is Robin Otani(son of Masutaro Otani) I am the Chairman and technical officer for the BJC in Cumbria and the Borders.
I have trained in other martial arts including Jujuitsu, Karate and Aikido but always continued with judo as my main preference. Mostly these days you will find me down one of my clubs or area events passing on my knowledge(and learning).
I look forward to exchanging thoughts and stories with other users. Very Happy
