We have lost the old intros' thread,so it would be good if you chaps would step up and re-introduce yourselves.

If you would be so kind. Smile

I post every once in a while. I study with Nick Hughes, but I'm currently nursing a knee injury back to health. Fay Wray and I have a lot in common.

Yo,

TKD black belt (earnt at 17yrs old but do not train in that style anymore)
Hapkido black belt (still train)
Muay Thai (coming on 20yrs of doing that style and still love it)
Senshido RBSD (only train at that club occasionally due to distance and I'm a cop so use the soft skills on a daily basis anyway)

Have done some Judo and BJJ and would like to try wrestling and Sambo.

Sometimes I will make a foolish attempt to be inappropriately humourous or random during a thread of which nobody, me included, particularly appreciates.

Hapkido is one art I always wanted to study and never got the chance. Just never found a dojo in any of the cities I ever lived. Sad

Nearly 37.

Did TKD as a kid. My dad was a black belt and got me into it. Have done a little bit of boxing, BJJ, Thai boxing and some Krav Maga.

More recently, I have been doing judo and really enjoying it.

I have come full circle in some ways. When I was younger, I was all about the street side of things. I now enjoy judo for the tradition, the physical exercise, the comaraderie and the sporting aspects.

I plan on competing at some stage over the next year or so purely for the experience.

I like this forum because it keeps me in touch with self protection even though it's no longer a massive part of my life.

36. Did Shotokan at a good old-fashioned tough dojo for years when I was younger but stopped training in my early 20s and concentrated on other sports. I always followed MMA and in 2006 I joined a gym where I found an excellent instructor to study Muay Thai and BJJ plus a lot of CSW to join it all up. I also get to have a lot of training time with Greg Nelson, my coach's coach, which is humbling and hugely enlightening.

I was supposed to be fighting MT late last year but my bout was cancelled. Since then my personal circumstances have changed and now I don't have as much time to train but I still plan on having MT, BJJ and MMA bouts before I run out of youth.

I write regularly for Fighters Only magazine and some other MMA press.

Hmmm... Things don't heal as fast as they use to...

Ex-LE, ex-security... Blackbelts in Hapkido, Taekwondo and Torite Jutsu, been training for over 25+ years and teaching for 18+ of them. Focus is primarily street along with fire arms for security and Exec. protection. Been told I have no heart and I can be a smart ass. Own a school and teach full time in sunny warm Florida and I can't see the big deal with tea.

Well Nick, that is a bit of bad luck. However, Hapkido is a lot like Japanese Jujutsu so if you get to train that style, you aren't far from Hapkido.

Sam 69 or samurai69

studied fencing and judo during my school years

main arts studied wing chun under simon lau for 3 years then a guy from hong kong (ken) for another 2 years a mix of wing chun and shantung black tiger, then aikido (shin shin toitsu) for 10 + years, also some western boxing, some Muay thai, some shotokan, some small circle ju jutsu, some jogo de pau (portuguese stick fighting)

run an "old school" gym in watford, we are about to start some BJJ classes and may find a decent MMA instructor and teach some classes of that too

I'm a 40-year-old Brit who lives in Barcelona, like SteveT. My main thing is wing chun, which I have trained with quite a few old-school (translation: scary) guys. I have also dabbled in kali. I love doing strength and conditioning. I would like to do more RBSD, but there are limited options out here.

Hey mate. Jogo de pau looks very interesting. Can you tell us a bit about it? Maybe in another thread...

Hi my name's Brian S,

Some of you may remember me. I used to be a moderator here.

I joke of course.

I don't want to reveal my real name if that's all the same to everyone. I have posted on this forum once or twice over the years. I like reading, walks in the park, having fun, and am searching for that special someone. I hate soap operas, yappy little dogs, and Paul Gappy Norris.

Did some karate years ago, training alone at the moment (at least until I am moved back into general population). I suck at martial arts and couldn't punch my way out of an octigenarian tea party.

Paul

Been training for X years (I really can't remember 20ish years) and done a bit of this and a bit of that. Mostly Karate and Capoeira but also do the reality based stuff. Must be the unluckiest bugger in martial arts history because I always seem to lose instructors before I get graded to instructor myself lol, but hey ho.

Spent two years in limbo due to some personal problems but am planning to start up a decent Tai Boxing class I know of soon and re attending John Skillen's gym, even if its miles away lol.

What's happened to Brian?

WalksWithNoFear

Started training in TMA when I was a nipper, however lost touch and decided to go into less violent sports, like rugby and hockey at school. At the moment I'm more into soft skills, and my weapon of last resort (my feet).
