whiplash

Post  Julian on Wed Mar 19, 2008 8:25 am

Hi Steve,

I think on your site you wrote about using your head without giving yourself whiplash or mild concussion. This maybe the case if you exaggerate the head movement. Lately I discovered when doing my punches my head also shakes to a small degree.

With shaking the whole body does it also include to shake the head?

Best regards,
Julian

The head leads the movement. You don't transfer the momentum of your body to the head, you transfer it to the limb (unless you're head-butting him, of course). The head leads the body, which leads the limb.

Thanks too Mr. Morris. You create some type of fight synergy using head to guide the pattern movements (strikes, covers, sprawls, chokes, locks, throws, rolls...). Is that right?
And about the neck conditionament?
Do you recommend any specific exercise or drill to strenght this bridge conection between the head and the body?
Maybe this question was raised some months ago, besides this important topic remain relevant.
