Good stuff...

Post  Joe.K on Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:12 pm

I love the medicine ball training at the end of the clip, I have been using the stability/swiss ball routines swiped from u-tube and they really do translate into better 'practice' in ground work but using the medicine ball let's you strike as well...Ah-ha! I will have a go at that.
I have tried to get my DV-Cam to 'talk' to my laptop to get some training pics up (Fat bloke V Makiwara) but frustratingly to no avail however I will keep trying -at least until the red mist obscures the screen again-....
Cheers

Great clip, Arthur. For those who liked Arthur's medicine ball training, that medicine ball work is just a small fraction of what we do with it. In Arthur's clip, you can see how you can take a piece of equipment that wasn't designed for MMA and bring out all the possibilities appropriate to your sport. But there's lots, lots more.

Come on, you guys. Let's get the clips up.

Good clip, Rob.

When he's old enough to be on the forum,we'll already know who he is. But for many of the others it doesn't seem like we're ever going to know who they are!

Which is a pity, because it was a good idea and could give a new dimension to the discussion here.

video roll call

Post  arthur meek on Fri Apr 04, 2008 3:01 am

Already though the clip with the medicine ball is now out of date. The stuff we have done in Primal has moved on and, in fact, although the agility stuff was ok I realised after last weekend the strikes are NOT! But the principle is there. But that's the value of video training logs, you can see the proof of evolvement.

Thanks for that Paul. Good stuff.

I'd like to get that Dog Brothers kind of stuff going down at Primal sometime, if I could get a second slot for a weapons day.

See you at Primal sometime.

I really like that Dog Brothers stuff. If I had a regular club, I'd have it in there. It'd probably be more violent, but what the hell...

See you soon Paul.

Just picking up on your last comment Steve, is there any chance you will have a club up and running in your own area in the future?

I don't think so, Arthur. Financially just can't make it happen.

But if some anonymous benefactor wants to set me up, I'm all ears!!

I was all alone at training last night steve so had to get a bit inventive.

These are a bit rubbish admitadly but I had my phone at hand and was at the end of a solo session.

and this one is pretty much just mindless whacking.

Neither are great just put them up so i can continue posting on the forum.

Cheers,

Sam.

It takes some balls to put a clip up. Anybody who posts a clip, regardless of its content: traditional, MMA, personal training, whatever it might be. I appreciate the effort and the courage it takes to come out from behind the computer screen.

Nobody's going to get abused for putting up a clip here. On the contrary.

Let's see some more so that we can keep this discussion going. I don't think the internet should be about supporting people's fantasies about their identity--this isn't an online RPG. We want to use this resource to get a better grip on reality. That's what it's all about for me.

Re: video roll call (sticky version)

Post  theycallme-Sam on Mon Apr 14, 2008 1:44 am

Hi Rob,
To Answer your question, When the other lads bother to turn up We do a blend of Martial art. I've spent nearly 10 years in Wing Chun so thats the main basis of what we do, but i've trained with other people in that time so know how to punch other than just straight down the middle all the time.

The other main component is Balintawak Arnis i've been doing this style for just over a year but done bits before that.

The stick video is really not a very good representaion of what we do, like i said on the post just mindless whacking. it is an ok drill for target practice though.

What i need to figure out is how do I get this to represent a man? Picking up on the idea on steves Power pad DVD bag as a man etc. It certainly doesn't move like a Man.

Any advice steve?
